A Fourth of July to Remember

Independence Day 2022

In 2021, the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular returned to form, with five barges full of explosive splendor putting on a show from the East River in NYC.

2022 was even bigger.

“4th of July Fireworks Spectacular” from New York City, 2022

The 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular from New York City was in full force as the nation’s largest Independence Day fireworks show. More than 50,000 pounds of fireworks are launched from the Brooklyn Bridge and from barges on the East River every year. Television cameras once again captured the show from Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The presentation below is the complete 26-minute fireworks show, including the live grand finale from Monday night.

Plus, we have added a list of popular patriotic songs often heard around this celebratory time of year. View our list of patriotic music — maybe there's a new song to add to your own playlist!

Independence Day Music, 2022

Of course, fireworks aren't the only feature of Independence Day entertainment. Patriotic music also abounds. Here is a curated list of songs we have found to be popular throughout the 4th of July season. We couldn't possibly list all of the songs that were originally on our list, so we narrowed the list to these nine unanimous choices (in no particular order).

    1. This Land is Your Land, by Woodie Guthrie
    2. Back In The U.S.A., by Chuck Berry
    3. Stars and Stripes Forever, performed by the Boston Pops Orchestra
    4. Hail to the Chief, performed by the United States Marine Band
    5. Living in the Promised Land, by Willie Nelson
    6. America the Beautiful, performed by Ray Charles
    7. The Promise of Living, by Aaron Copland
    8. The Fourth of July (1912), by Charles Ives
    9. The Star Spangled Banner, performed by Whitney Houston
