September 11, 2012 is Patriot Day
In observance of Patriot Day, United States flags should be displayed at half-staff from sunrise to sunset to honor the memory of thousands of victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on America.
Patriot Day was established by Public Law on December 18, 2001, as a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance.
On 9/11 Americans are asked to observe a moment of silence at 8:46 A.M. EDT.
